Looking After Your Details

How plumline looks after the details people share with the Sangha Finder.

Who We Are

plumline is a movement of the Plum Village lay community.

We are volunteers, and plumline has no legal status.

The volunteers who look after the Sangha Finder decide how it uses your details, and answer for them.

To ask us anything about your details, write to us through our contact page.

What Anyone Can See

A sangha’s name, description, website, address and meetings.

The name of its public contact.

Its email address is not shown on the Sangha Finder.

Messages sent through the Sangha Finder go only to the public email.

Other Plum Village movements may be given the public email, so they can be in touch with sanghas.

What Our Volunteers See

A sangha’s private contact and alternate contact, and the email address of each of its contacts.

The private contact’s phone number, where they give one.

The sangha contact and the alternate sangha contact can see them too, so they can keep them up to date.

Where a sangha has no sangha contact, each of its contacts can see them.

Volunteers’ notes about a sangha, such as who looks after it and which Order of Interbeing members and Dharma teachers are connected to it.

A history of changes, so that a mistake can be put right.

Volunteers’ email addresses, and their full names.

A sangha’s contacts see the first name of each volunteer who looks after it.

Every one of these volunteers can see all of a sangha’s details.

Our volunteers live in different countries, inside and outside Europe, so your details may be read wherever they are.

Why We Hold Them

To help people find a sangha near them, or online.

To let each sangha keep its own details up to date.

We show a sangha’s details because its contact, or the volunteer who listed it, told us they agreed.

We ask again whenever a name or email in its contacts changes.

We may write to a sangha’s contact about its listing.

When You Write Through the Site

When you write to a sangha, we pass your name, email address and message on to the sangha, so they can reply.

When you write to us, your message comes to plumline’s shared inbox.

The Sangha Finder does not keep these messages.

To understand how often introductions are used, we keep the time a link is requested or a message is sent for 30 days, without names, addresses or message text.

To stop misuse, it keeps your email address and a scrambled form of your internet address for a day or two.

Signing In

Sangha contacts and volunteers sign in with Google, or with a link we email to them.

Signing in sets a cookie, which keeps you signed in for 30 days after your last visit, and 90 days at most.

Two more last half an hour at most: one while you sign in with Google, and one while you write to a sangha.

Your browser also remembers a few choices, such as the view you last used.

Clearing your browser’s data for this site removes them.

When a volunteer signs in, we note the time and whether they are a coordinator.

We keep this for 30 days.

Admins see only how many different people signed in, never who.

The Sangha Finder has no advertising and does not track you.

Who Else Handles Them

Cloudflare runs the website and keeps its database.

Resend sends its emails.

Google tells us who you are when you sign in with Google.

OpenStreetMap draws the map, so its servers see your internet address when your browser fetches the map.

When you search near a place, we look the place up with OpenStreetMap, which sees the place you typed but not you.

When a sangha’s address is added or changed, we look it up with OpenStreetMap to place the sangha on the map, and OpenStreetMap sees the address but not you.

Some of these services are in the United States.

How Long We Keep Them

We keep a sangha’s details while it is listed.

We keep its history of changes for the same time, including old names and email addresses.

When a sangha is removed, its details are deleted within 30 days.

A sign-in link stops working after 15 minutes.

Your Choices

A sangha’s contact can sign in and change its details at any time.

You can ask us to show you, correct or remove the details we hold about you.

We will reply within a month.

If you are unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the data protection authority where you live.
